ISO 27001 Compliance for AI Agents

ISO 27001 requires organizations to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve an Information Security Management System (ISMS). When AI agents operate within your development environment — reading files, executing commands, and modifying code — they introduce information security risks that your ISMS must address. EMET provides the logging, monitoring, and evidence collection capabilities that map directly to ISO 27001 Annex A controls.

EMET addresses key Annex A controls (ISO 27001:2022):

  • A.5.28 — Collection of Evidence — Tamper-evident audit trails with cryptographic signing at the sensor and server-side verification, supporting forensic evidence preservation requirements
  • A.8.15 — Logging — Complete audit trail of every AI agent action: file reads, command executions, file modifications, and tool invocations, with nanosecond-precision timestamps and cryptographic signing
  • A.8.16 — Monitoring Activities — Continuous security-rule evaluation on incoming events, anomaly detection for credential access, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, and other risk indicators
  • A.8.2 — Privileged Access Rights — Monitoring of AI agent access to sensitive resources including credentials, private keys, configuration files, and database schemas
  • A.8.3 — Information Access Restriction — Visibility into every file and resource an AI agent accesses, with session-level correlation to track scope of access
  • A.8.25 — Secure Development Life Cycle — Capture of every code modification made by AI agents during the development process, linking changes to sessions and prompts

ISMS integration capabilities:

  • Risk assessment — AI activity visibility enables identification and evaluation of information security risks introduced by AI agents, supporting Clause 6.1.2 risk assessment processes
  • Incident investigation — Complete session timelines with event correlation for security incident analysis, supporting Annex A.5.26 Response to Information Security Incidents and A.5.27 Learning from Information Security Incidents
  • Continuous improvement — Trend analysis and reporting to support Clause 10.1 continual improvement of the ISMS
  • SIEM integration — Feed AI agent activity data into existing security monitoring infrastructure through SIEM connectors
  • Data export — CSV and JSON exports for internal audit evidence packages and management review inputs
  • Role-based access control — Five roles (Viewer, Analyst, Security Manager, Tenant Admin, Platform Admin) enforced on every API endpoint, supporting Annex A access control requirements
